Looking sporty and chiseled, the Jeep Renegade breathes new life into a conventional subcompact crossover design. Despite its smaller size, it has a well-laid-out, spacious cabin and good cargo space. Its safety and tech are on-trend as well, but it's the Jeep Renegade's capability features that have our Starkville, MS Parker McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram team particularly impressed.

The Jeep Renegade offers two engines in its lineup. Base trims receive a 1.3-liter I4 direct-injection turbo engine that churns out 177 horsepower. Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, it attains up to 24/32 mpg city/highway. Upper trims enjoy a 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir 2 engine that produces 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque. It manages fuel efficiency of up to 22/30 mpg city/highway.

Lower trims containing the 1.3-liter I4 and nine-speed automatic transmission receive a further boost in efficiency thanks to stop/start technology. Stop/start technology stops the engine automatically when you bring the Jeep Renegade to a full stop, say, at a traffic light. The engine immediately starts up again when you remove your foot from the brake pedal or when you engage the gas.
